"Major WATSON has led GSO II to FORCE 281 (now Dodecanese Area) since November 1944. When the Force was concentrating in EGYPT and on arrival in the DODECANESE on the 25 December 1944, he was responsible for the execution of all operation orders and instructions calling for long and arduous hours of work. When, during the planning stages in EGYPT in November and again prior to taking over the whole of the DODECANESE, which was completed on 8 May 1945, Major WATSON was called upon to display the highest standard of staff ability in order to deal with a constantly changing situation. At times, orders and instructions had to be cancelled, rewritten and issued in a matter of hours. It was largely due to his officer's untiring efforts that the operations went through without a hitch. This officer displayed outstanding efficiency and ability working continuously to ensure the successful conclusion to the campaign in the DODECANESE."
