"On the night of 8/9 Dec 1941, 2nd Lt. Zgola led a strong raiding party on an enemy position, SE of Medauar. Although met by heavy mortar & Mg fire he successfully stormed the post in a hand to hand fight inflicting heavy losses to the enemy. He was the last to withdraw, carrying one of his soldiers who was wounded. His gallantry, selfcontrol & high spirit are an example for his unit."
