“General der Artillerie Hartmann’s excellent, flexible leadership as well as his personal intervention in the hotspots of combat enabled him to have a massive share in the great successes of his Armeekorps. General Hartmann’s personal devotion to duty and his influence on the course of the fighting were major factors that contributed to his Korps capturing over 50000 men as well as vast quantities of weapons and equipment.”
