"During the fighting along the River Senio on the morning of the 10th April 1945 when due to contradictory reports, it was difficult to ascertain what the situation was in area Solarolo (Between Rivers Senio and Santerno). Lieutenant Colonel Kuś, personally went up in an Air OP and from a low height, in spite of enemy fire he observed the situation and also ascertained that tanks on the south east outskirts of Solarolo were our own. This information was of great value as it enabled an appreciation to be made of the situation and the cancellation of the arranged artillery concentration on that locality."
Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE)
