"In May 1944, during the battle of the Liri Valley in which with the formidable Gustav and Adolf Hitler Lines were breached, Major Franciszek Kruszyn was attached to Headquarters Royal Canadian Artillery, 1 Canadian Corps as the Polish Artillery Liaison Officer.
He did invaluable work, the important information which he consistently obtained and the cheerful and co-operative manner in which he undertook everything he was called upon to do were of great moral and material assistance.
Major Kruszyn was again Polish Artillery Liaison at Canadian Corps in August 1944, when the attack began on the Gothic Line. He confirmed the good impressions he had previously created and his energetic co-operation again assured a consistent exchange of important information. His exemplary conduct has at all times been a credit to the Corps to which he belongs."
