"As Officer in charge of a Workshop Platoon of a Workshop Company and afterwards as acting Commanding Officer of the Company. Lieutenant Speichert organised in an exemplary manner throughout the Italian Campaign the replacement system of the 3rd Carpathian Divisions motor transport and motor transport of Allied units under command.

It was especially during the operations on Rivers Lamone and Senio in November and December 1944 when the 1st workshop company was responsible for the whole divisional sector. That it was due to his personal efforts that the Divisions Motor Transport and the British and Italian units were repaired and returned in record time.

Despite the unusual difficult weather and ground conditions, thus during the whole period the units had all the necessary motor transport for conducting the operations."
