Hendrikus Arnoldus Nuijen was in Bemmel, together with his son Theodorus Johannes Nuijen seriously wounded during an artillery bombardment. Both were transported to a hospital in Nijmegen. Here he died of his wounds on September 30th. His son died on October 4th.
