Cornelis Stephanus Theodorus Rietbergen was the skipper of the s.s. Amstelland when the ship was attacked by German aircraft in the Irish Sea on February 26th, 1941. The ship was on route from Falmouth to Buenos Aires and sunk on February 28th, killing Captain Rietbergen.
