“Major Schüler led his Regiment with boldness when it forced a crossing over the Rhine river as the first unit of the Korps to do so. After this he and his men fought through the Maginot Line in bitter combat and secured a pass through Vosges Hills at Col d’Urbeis via an energetically executed attack. Major Schüler thereby played a major role in the outcome of his Korps’ overall operations, having achieved a success of great operational significance.”
