Citation:
"This officer joined the Resistance movement early in 1943 and was trained as a W/T operator by a British officer in the Lyon area. Grinberg began operating in October 1943 and worked continuously until September 1944.
Owing to arrests of other operators, Grinberg was compelled to deal with the traffic of four different circuits, but in spite of overwork and severe nervous strain owing to the constant need for vigilance agaianst German D/F action and Gestapo agents, he seldom missed a sked, and by his untiring devotion to duty made possible the delivery of arms on a large scale to the F.F.I. in the Lyon and St. Etienne regions, and the Saone et Loire department.
Grinberg narrowly escaped arrest on several occasions, notably in May 1944 when the Gestapo came to search the house where he operated at Aix-les-Bains. His sang froid and his presence of mind saved him on this as on other occasions.
For his devoted service in resistance and for the courage he showed in carrying on his work in conditions of great danger, it is recommended that this officer be appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (Mil)."
Signed: Colin Gubbins, Major-General. 10.9.45.
