Biography

Class of 1941. Seaman 1st Class, US Coast Guard. Missing action in the Atlantic. On 10 March 1944, the USS Leopold was struck by an acoustic torpedo fired from the German submarine U-255. Shortly after the torpedo strike, the crew of Leopold began to abandon ship as she broke in half.

Father, Mr. Walter G. Hamilton, 9220 So. Damen, Chicago, Ill (na). Entered service from Illinois. Not on the Memorial Plaque or in the ’46 Yearbook.
