Jozef Kuras is a controversial figure in Poland's post-war history. Kurs served in the Polish army during the German invasion and then fought in the Polish resistance against the German occupation force. He was also a leader in the resistance against the Communist regime in Poland from 1945 until his death in 1947. Kuras reportedly died as a result of a suicide attempt. He has no known grave.

Some sources accuse Kuras for war crimes against civilians and Antisemitism.
