"For exceptionally meritorious conduct in the peformance of outstanding services as Commanding Officer of the Sussex Training School at St. Albans, Hortz, and late as Commanding Officer of the British field detachment during the period 1 October 1943 to 25 October 1944. He arranged and supervised the curriculum and ahandled all administrative and disciplinary action. Lieutenant Colonel Henderson was responsible for the entire preparation of 120 agents eventually used for intelligence work in the British and American zones in France. Later he went to France as Commanding Officer of the British field detachment with the 21st Army Group, and followed through to complete realization and liquidation, on the British side, the plans with which he had been closely connected from their inception. He constantly maintained the respect of his colleagues, British, American and French.
