Biography

Norman was born on August 29 1912 in Fort William Ontario, the son of Frank Levie Moore and Francis (Fannie) E. Moore nee Woolsey (deceased in 1923) of Fort William. They were married on March 25 1903 in Ottawa. He was married on August 28 1943 in Fort William with Mary Madeleine Azella Moore nee Lahaie of Verdun Quebec. His brothers were Ray and Morris Moore and his sister was Mrs. Marion McKay.

He was a machine worker and member of the United Church and his sports were rugby, swimming, hockey and ball games and running at the high school.

He enlisted on November 7 1942 in Port Arthur Ontario and he went thereafter on September 19 1943 overseas to the UK.

Norman was killed in action on Saturday June 17 1944 age 31 due to a crash near Alphen a/d Rijn before or after an attack on Sterkrade near Oberhausen in Germany. His other fallen RCAF crew members were F/O Earl S. Dwyer age 22 in grave 13-1-10, P/O Stanley K. Kaiser age 25 in grave 13-1-5, F/O James C. Lummis age 23 in grave 13-1-2, P/O Arthur R. Moorby age 22 in grave 13-1-3 and P/O Thomas D. Turner age 29 in grave 13-9-191. The fallen RAF Volunteer Reserve crew member was Sgt John H. Bolton age 28 in grave 13-1-4.

On his headstone: I GAVE MY ALL THAT YOU MIGHT LIVE IN PEACE

They unveiled in 2018 a monument in Alphen a/d Rijn for the whole fallen crew.

He served with the 434 Sqdn Royal Canadian Air Force.
