Biography

Lebrun was the last president of the Third French Republic. He was arrested by the German authorities on 27 August 1943 and subsequently sent into captivity at the Itter Castle. He was released due to health reasons on 10 October 1943.

Lebrun also served as Minister for the Colonies from 1912–1914, Minister of War in 1913 and Minister for Liberated Regions, 1917–1919.
