Citation:
"This officer worked as our chief organiser in the SINLUM HILL TRACTS (then behind the enemy lines) for nearly a year, during which time he showed the highst degree of courage. initiative and efficiency. He received the Military Cross for his services.
He was withdrawn in Oct 1944 and again landed behind the enemy lines by parachute in the ?? area in Nov 44. He rapidly organised a most efficient intelligence network in this area and after handing over to another officer moved South to establish his H.Q. within 6 miles of LASHIO, repeating the performance there.
His regular reports of enemy movements and positions were extremely accurate and were of the greatest value to N.C.A.C. and 10th US.A.A.F.
On account of the courage, initiative and efficiency which he displayed in the SINLUM HILL TRACTS, he has always been allotted the hardest and most dangerous task, namely that of organising and developping new territory as te line moved South. He has never hesitated to accept even when in area where the people were strangers to him and were expected to be hostile. This officer is still behind the lines developping new territory in the same fearless and efficient way.
I strongly recommend him for the D.S.O.
Recommended for a DSO but downgraded to a Bar to the MC.
