Citation:
"Major P.L. BURGIN was OC 'E' Group Coastal Section on the WEST coast of BURMA from August 1944 until February 1945. During this period he not only ran the section with utmost efficiency but himself took part in operations in enenmy territory.
In all he landed on the BURMA Coast four times and visited points upto 1200 miles SOUTH of our bomb line. In additon this officer volunteered to accompany air recces searching for missing aircraft and came under fire.
A considerable amount of valuable intelligence was obtained during the period under review and air strikes and naval bombardments were carries out as a result of information supplied.
On one occasion off SAGU ISLAND Major BURGIN and another of his officers drected the fire of a naval vessel by firing tracer bullets on to targets they discovered whilst ashore."
