Biography

Willem Adriaan Josef Stuyver was born on February 20th, 1900 as the son to Adrianus Johannes Stuyver (September 13th, 1865, Surabaya - January 28th, 1933, Batavia) and Anna Casparina Louise Stuyver-Ludwig (July 30th, 1868, Deventer - March 20th, 1927). He was around 1940, Kapitein der Artillerie (Captain of Artillery) with the KNIL (Dutch East Indian Army) and was part of the Koloniale Reserve. As from 1939 until May 1940 he was on European leave of absence and was in May 1940 unable to travel to the Dutch East Indies. When the Germans invaded the Netherlands he was incorporated in the Artillerie-inlichtingsdienst (Artillery Intelligence).
