    "For conspicuous conduct in the performance of services to the United States as Assistant Provost Marshal, Central Military District, New Zealand, from 1st May, 1942, to 31st December, 1945. During this period, Major Wood was largely responsible for the maintenance of excellent relations between American and New Zealand personnel. Through his energetic efforts and generous whole-hearted co-operation and foresight he was of marked assistance to the large numbers of American military personnel stationed at or staging from New Zealand."
