Gordon Thomas Blyth is a son of Alfred Thomas and Dorothy Blyth, husband of Ruth Blyth, of Cleckheaton, Yorkshire.
He was part of the 621ST Field Sqn. Royal Engineers 7th armored division "Desert Rats".
He was killed on January 17, 1945, near the bridge that his unit was building over the Vloed Graaf between Baakhoven and Dieteren.
He had already served in North Africa and Italy, so he could rightly call himself a real 'Desert Rat'.
