Biography

Rank: Private, Unit: Military Police Corps. Son of Joseph Harry and Florence Louisa Haywood, of Ladywood, Birmingham.

Was a resident of Birmingham.

Following the capture of Liessel on 30-10-1944, the 44th Infantry Brigade, 15th (Scottish) Infantry Division continued the advance on 31-10-1944 to take the hamlet of Slot, located between Liessel and Neerkant.

Harry and his unit must have been near the hamlet of Slot on this day. His field grave was near house L.64 located in hamlet Slot. It is likely that Harry died during the heavy fighting or enemy artillery and mortar fire.

Harry served in the 15th (Scottish) Division Provost Company of Royal Military Police. This company was part of the Divisional Troops Group of the 15th (Scottish) Infantry Division.
