John was born on October 30 1921 in Manyberries, Alberta, the son of William Daniel Adams and Emily Elizabeth Adams nee Adams (English) of Edmonton. A brother was already deceased earlier and cause unknown.
He was a student and member of the United Church. He spoke English and fair French. His hobby was building model aeroplanes and his sports were basketball, baseball, soccer, volleyball, hockey, handball, tennis and badminton.
He enlisted on January 6 1941 in Edmonton and he went thereafter on April 14 1942 overseas to the UK.
John was killed in action on Monday September 14 1942 age 20, just a about a month before his 21st birthday due to a crash at the Buitenweg in Oudehorne before or after an attack on Bremen in Germany. The other fallen RAF Volunteer Reserve crew members were P/O Edwin F. Dowdell age 25 in grave 14-30, Sgt George A. Walker age 22 in grave 14-29 and Sgt Reginald L. Moss age 20 in grave 14-33. The other fallen RAF crew members were F/Sgt Robert Robertson age 24 in grave 14-34 and Sgt Percy K. Jones age 20 in grave 14-28. The other fallen RNZAF crew member was P/O Patrick A. Vivian age 21 in grave 14-32.
There is a monument for the fallen crew members in Oudehorne.
He served with the 1654 HCU Royal Canadian Air Force.
