Biography

Arthur was born on April 11 1920 in Toronto, the son of Walter Morley Wilkinson and Zella Hannah Wilkinson nee Manners of Toronto. They were married on April 2 1913 in Toronto. He was married on October 18 1939 in Toronto with Reta Dorothy Wilkinson nee Wismer and their daughter was Reta Maureen Wilkinson (1940). They were divorced on November 11 1941 later. His brothers were Orval R. and Wallace M. Wilkinson. His sister was Doreen Dora Wilkinson and another sister was still born in 1926.

He was an apprentice electrotyper and member of the Presbyterian Church. His sports were hockey, softball and football and his hobby was woodwork.
He enlisted on July 30 1942 in Toronto and he went on May 11 1943 thereafter from New York USA overseas to the UK.

Arthur was killed in action on Wednesday December 29 1943 age 23 due to a crash at Tungelroij at the Nelehof farm near Weert before or after an attack on Berlin in Germany. The other fallen RAF Volunteer Reserve crew members were Sgt Laurence H. Jones age 21 in grave 1-3 and Sgt Graham Johnson age 19 in grave 1-2. The other fallen RAAF crew member was F/Sgt Keith S. Bell age 23 in grave 1-4. The other RAF crew members: F/Sgt J.Y Lee survived the crash and he became then a prisoner of war, Sgt A.F. Gunnell also survived the crash and he could evade then and Sgt H.L. Pike also survived the crash and he could evade first but he became yet a prisoner of war then.

He served with the 115 (R.A.F.) Sqdn Royal Canadian Air Force.
