Biography

Reginald was born on December 24 1916 in Regina Saskatchewan, the son of Eugene William James McDougall and Celine McDougall nee LeDoux (American) of Regina. They were married on March 16 1916 in Regina. He was married on September 24 1942 in Regina with Jean Illeen McDougall nee Jamieson of Regina and their son was James Clark McDougall (August 20 1943). His brothers were James Benson and William Sheldon McDougall and his sisters were Marvel Celine and Patricia Lorraine McDougall.

He was a salesman, warehouseman and truck driver with C.P. Express and member of the United Church. His hobby was motorcycle racing and he enjoyed most sports except hockey.

He enlisted on June 3 1941 in Regina and he went on October 19 1943 thereafter from New York USA overseas to the UK.

Reginald was killed in action on Monday May 22 1944 age 27 due to a crash at the Langeschouw 8 km west of Zundert before or after an attack on Duisburg in Germany. The other fallen RAF Volunteer Reserve crew members were F/Sgt Ronald R. Bunker age 26 in grave 2, Sgt James Herkes age 22 in grave 2, Sgt William F. O’Neill age 31 in grave 2 and Sgt Harold R. Elsbury age 20 in grave 2. The other RAF crew member W.H. Leany survived the crash and he became then a prisoner of war. The other RAF crew member F/O E. O’Donoghue also survived the crash and he could evade then and he was arrested on June 8 1944 in Antwerp and he also became then a prisoner of war and both survived the war.

He served with the 460 (R.A.A.F.) Sqdn Royal Canadian Air Force.
