Harold was born on August 3 1922 in North York township Ontario, the son of Arthur Henry Wakeman (English) and Isabelle May Wakeman nee Spencer (Newfoundland) of Weston, Ontario. They were married on September 3 1919 in Toronto. His brothers were William Arthur, Ernest Frank, John Stanley and James Albert Wakeman.
He was a student and member of the United Church. He spoke English and fair French and his sports were baseball, rugby and tennis and his hobby was photography.
He enlisted on July 9 1941 in Toronto and he went on October 16 1943 thereafter from New York USA overseas to the UK.
Harold was killed on action on Thursday October 5 1944 age 22 due to a crash near De Klomp north of Veenendaal before or after an attack on a railway-junction at Zwolle. The 197 squadron purpose was to support the Canadian ground troops from the sky. This was done by shootings and light bombings on German targets.

He is mentioned since October 7 2019 at a memorial at the crash site.
He served with the 197 (R.A.F.) Sqdn Royal Canadian Air Force.
