"This warrant officer landed by glider at Arnhem on 17th September 1944. He was RSM of the 181 Airlanding Field Ambulance which set up Dressing Stations at Oosterbeck. These Dressing Stations were continuously under enemy shell and mortar fire and it is directly due to RSM Bryson's drive and efficiency and to the discipline which he had installed into the unit, that such excellent work was done and maintained by the men. During the whole action RSM Bryson showed a tireless devotion to duty and a complete disregard for his own safety. In addition to his routine duties he was always at hand, ready and willing to perform any task required of him. After the action was over the 181 Airlanding Field Ambulance took over an empty barracks and ran it as a hospital for 900 men wounded at Arnhem. It was mainly due to RSM Bryson's drive and efficiency that this tremendous task was done quickly and well by very tired men. RSM Bryson was quite outstanding throughout. His conduct is worthy of the very highest praise."
