Memorial Confederate Major General Stephen Dodson Ramseur

This memorial commemorates the Confederate Major General Stephen Dodson Ramseur, who, on 20 October 1864, died of wounds received in the Battle of Cedar Creek.
The Battle of Cedar Creek took place on 19 October 1864 when Confederate forces attacked by surprise. The battle resulted in a Union victory. The Union lost 5,665 men (dead, wounded, missing or captured), the Confederates 2,910 men.
