Unveiled by Field-Marshal Earl Douglas Haig at 11:00 AM on July 1st 1924. This monument was erected by the Dominion of Newfoundland before Newfoundland joined Canada. The five statutes which represent, The Newfoundland Royal Navy Reserve, the Royal Newfoundland Regiment, The Merchant Marine, the Forestry Corps and Liberty were designed by Ferdinand Victor Blundstone and Gilbert Bayes. Bronze plaques on the pedestal recognized those who gave their lives in, The War of 1812, World War I, World War II, Korea and Afghanistan.
