In the autumn of 1813, the manor house in Posewitz was seized by the retreating French troops and used as military hospital. The soldiers who died here, were buried in mass graves on the cemetery at the manor house. Later, also Austrian soldiers were buried here.
Today, there is almost nothing left of cemetery (also called the "Franzosen-Friedhof"). However, there is now an information board with the history of the cemetery.
