Avro Manchester Monument Lichtaart

On the night of 25/26 March, a plane that was destined to belong to the force that Essen had intended, crashed into Lichtaart.

This was the Manchester L7465 'OL-H' of the 83 Sqdn from the base Scampton. The entire crew died and rests now at Heverlee.

They were P / O Christopher Danielsen (20 years), his co-pilot F / Sgt Albert Woodcock (21 years), the observer Sgt Paul Markides (21 years), radio operators Sgt Thomas Miller and Sgt Colin Smith (21 years) .) and the gunners Sgt Alan Jaye (19 y.) and the Australian F / O Donald McConachie (29 y.).
