The bridge connecting Airel and Saint-Fromond was heavily contested at the cost of several dozen American lives. Signs, plaques and a liberation marker are present.
The plaque on the east side reads:

The plaque on the west side continues:
...this bridge could not be crossed until 7 July 1944 by the 30th Division who freed SAINT-FROMOND after an intense bombardment.
The reinforced stone bridge was used for armor, while a Bailey bridge and a boat bridge were used for infantry and light vehicles.
The bridge was repaired by C Company 247tj Engineer (Combat) Battalion, 1104th Engineer (Combat) Group.
