A part of this museum is dedicated to Audie Murphy. He was one of the most highly decorated United States soldiers of the Second World War, with the Congressional Medal of Honor and 32 other awards, from different countries.
After the war he was a successful actor. He died in a plane-accident in 1971 and was buried on Arlington National Cemetery. Audie Murphy's grave site is the second-most visited grave at Arlington, after that of President John F. Kennedy.
The museum displays memorabilia from Audie L. Murphy's military service and movie career, as well as memorabilia from other Hunt County veterans.
