Dutch War Graves Protestant Cemetery Gendringen

At the Protestant cemetery in Gendringen are two Dutch war graves, of:

- Abe Drijver
Teacher, born December 15, 1910 in Leeuwarden, executed on October 9, 1944 in Anholt (Germany). Immediately after the liberation, they were reburied in the Dutch Reformed cemetery in Gendringen. Son of Jisk Drijver and Jannigje Post. Married to Elisabeth Oost. Accused of resistance and secret organization, illegal possession of weapons and sabotage. After the verdict, Abe was executed. Abe Drijver resides at 87 Grotestraat in Gendringen.

- Johannes Cornelis van Oosten:
Victim Camp Rees. On February 18, 1945 was admitted to the emergency hospital in Gendringen
Johannes Cornelis van Oosten born August 1, 1910 in Delft. Married to Sara Wijnands and living at 49 Bantamstraat in Haarlem. This person died here of malnutrition and exhaustion on February 28, 1945 and was buried on March 3, 1945 at the Ned. Ref. Cemetery in Gendringen.

- G.J. Gemmink
Gemmink was a municipal worker in the municipality of Gendringen. After the liberation he volunteered to store found ammunition in a shed on the Ulfseweg under Engbergen. On May 11, 1945, things went wrong: an '' explosion '' that could be heard far and wide.
G.J. Gemmink was found at a distance from the shed.
Unfortunately G.J. Gemmink was killed.
