On the city cemetery of Ninove are the graves of veterans, former prisoners of war, deported, political prisoners and resistance fighters of both World Wars.
The cemetery also contains the grave of Doctor Maurice Lievens (1886-1935). Doctor Lievens wrote a diary during the First World War, which was translated and rewritten by André Gysel into ‘Dagboek van een arts in de loopgraven van WO I’ ('Diary of a doctor in the trenches of WW1').
