Fort Lawton Military Cemetery contains the grave of the Italian prisoner-of-war Guglielmo Olivotto (or Guglieamo Olivotto). He was hanged during riots on 14 August 1944 by white soldiers who attacked the POW-barracks after an incident. Many other POWs were seriously injured.
The cemetery contains also the grave of a German POW from the Second World War. Albert Marquardt died of accidental poisoning in 1945.
Entry to the cemetery is via the main thoroughfare off West Government Way as it crosses 36th Ave West - Seattle, 98199. On entry to Discovery Part W Government Way turns in to Discovery Park Boulevard. The entrance to the Cemetary is on the right after about 500 yards. The cemetery is laid out in a broadly rectangular fashion and both POW gravestones lie separated from the other gravestones diagonally opposite the entrance to the cemetery.
