Westwall - Remains Bunkers

The remains are on private land behind some houses but visible from Oberforstbacherstrasse.

The remains are part of a group of 5 bunkers on Ritscheider Heide, between the village and the autobahn. The open farmland, from where you can see all 5 remains, is accessible on foot or bike via Ritscheider Weg. The ruins are mostly buried but you get a good idea of the siting strategy, especially if you add the bunkers in Augustiner Wald opposite.

There was of course no autobahn there when they were all built in the late 1930s.
