The Former King Willem I Barracks in Den Bosch where, after a renovation and redesign, the R.O.C., Regional Training Center is now located.
During the Second World War, the Koning Willem I Barracks, together with the nearby Isabella Barracks, was used for the stationing of various SS units, for the training of the Dutch WA (Weather Department) and from 1943 for the training of the Landwacht, an NSB organization.
On October 27, 1944, the barracks was bombarded by the English during the liberation of Den Bosch, during which some barracks went up in flames.
In the courtyard of the Former Barracks you can see a plaque for the Den Bosch Resistance Courier Sjef Trimbos.
Sjef Trimbos was shot dead by the Germans in October 1944 when he was on his way to Vlijmen on an assignment.
