Memorial Stirling EF357

On the night of 12/13 May 1943 Stirling EF357 (No.149 Squadron, Royal Air Force) crashed in Rotterdam-Crooswijk. All seven crew members were killed in the crash. They are buried in the nearby general cemetery.

On 12 May 2018, the 75th anniversary of the crash, a memorial in remembrance of the crew was unveiled at the crash site. The memorial was unveiled by mayor Aboutaleb and relatives of the crew.

The text on the monument reads:

During the night of May 12-13, 1943, this place collapsed
British Short Stirling EF357 OV-J from No. 149 Squadron,
Royal Air Force, down, after being executed earlier that night
attack on Duisburg. All seven crew members died
and found their final resting place on the
General Cemetery Crooswijk.
Their names will be remembered forever.
