Former Execution Range Drobytsky Yar

Between 1941 and 1942, this ravine was scene of the mass execution of about 30,000 persons (mainly local Jews) by the Germans.

The execution range today:
A memorial complex for the Holocaust victims is currently standing here. A path leads from a black Jewish menorah to the white main memorial symbolizing a synagogue with the Ten Commandments between its columns; most notably: "Do not murder". Beneath the main memorial is an underground memorial place lighted by candles. The names of 4,300 victims of Drobytsky Yar can be read on the walls here.
