The Gedenkstätte Köpenicker Blutwoche reminds of the week of 21 to 26 June in which the citizens of Berlin were arrested, tortured and murdered by the SA in the Köpenick district in Berlin. This action was carried out under the direction of SA-Sturmbannführer Herbert Gehrke.
About 500 people were arrested, including communists, social-democrats and Jews.
The gedenkstätte is located in the former prison of the Amtsgericht Köpenick which was also used as a prison during the Blutwoche.
