The churchyard of Grimbergen-Verbrande Brug contains 20 Belgian burialsof the First World War, 8 of them unidentified. It also contains the grave of corporal Léon Tresignies, fallen on 26 August 1914 in an attempt to open the bridge over the channel to enable a counter attack of the Belgian army on the German troops.
