Near the NW corner of Fraulein-Marien-Straße and Schloß Straße is a memorial which commemorates the Jews from Jever who were murdered in the Holocaust. It shows three stacks of "books of life." On the spine of each of the 67 books are inscribed a name, dates of birth and death, and place where the person was murdered.
The memorial was created in 1966 according to plans by the Oldenburg artist Udo Reimann.
