Battery Wallace was a part of Fort Barry, part of the harbor defense of San Francisco and was built in 1921 (Build started in 1917). The battery was later casemated in 1942-1943. The battery became operational until 1948, when it was deactivated. It was equipped with two 12" guns.
The battery was named after Colonel Elmer J. Wallace, Coast Artillery Corps, who died in France in 1918.
Nowadays the battery is open to the public.
