German War Cemetery Kolmeshöhe

Located west of Bitburg is the German war cemetery (Kriegsgräberstätte) Kolmeshöhe, where a total of 2043 casualties from World War I (23) and World War II (1961) have been given their final resting place. Also buried there are 59 civilian victims from World War II.

The cemetery gained notoriety through President Ronald Reagan's visit in 1985. This visit was controversial because members of the Waffen-SS are also buried at the site. In front of the cemetery entrance, a monument recalls this event.
