This plaque is dedicated to the Unknown Warrior, of which his remains arrived at Platform 8 on 10 November 1920.
At 8.32pm the train pulling Van Number 132, the Cavell Van arrived at platform 8 in Victoria Railway Station. The roof of Van 132 had been painted white so that the many thousands of people lining the the route could identify the carriage containing the Unknown Warrior and pay their respects.
The coffin remained at Victoria under guard until the morning of the 11 November when it began its procession to The Cenotaph and then onto Westminster Abbey.
Annually at 8.32pm on 10th November a memorial service is held by the Royal British Legion and the Western Front Association.
