Memorial Glider Pilot Regiment

This memorial is located in the memorial garden at Manchester International Airport.

Text on the memorial:
Here at Manchester Airport
the first trials of gliders
for military purposes were
carried out in 1940.

This led to the formation of
the Glider Pilot Regiment
Army Air Corps in 1942.

The motto of the regiment was
‘Nothing is Impossible'


The memorial was designed and largely made by Garry Lavin.
