This plaque on the Sherman Tank M4A3(75)W "Cherbourg" commemorates Albert Zimmer, of the Division Leclerc, who was killed in action on this location on 23 November 1944.

It is located on the approach to the tram and pedestrian bridge Beatus Rhenanus that crosses the Rhine into Germany; Strasbourg's tram networks goes over the border to Kehl.
