Romanian War Cemetery Oarba de Mures

This complex was established in the memory of the 11.000 Romanian soldiers that fell in battle between September 5th and October 10th of 1944 in the surrondings of this area. The complex was erected in 1949 and contains a large cemetery for the heroic soldiers, a commemorative yard and a obelisk.

The 11 meters high obelisk is made of stone blocks and placed on a concrete socle in two steps. On the socle in Romanina the text: "Glory to the Romanian heroes who fell for the defence of the country" has been placed. On a large stone block at the entrance of the complex the text "In the memory of the heroes, with humbleness, our act of gratitude" is placed.
