Memorial & Crypt Lafayette Escadrille

This memorial (Mémorial de l'Escadrille La Fayette) commemorates the Lafayette Escadrille. The Lafayette Escadrille was a French Air Service squadron during World War I. It comprised largely of volunteer American fighter pilots, of whom many were killed in action. A number of them is buried in this crypt, beneath the memorial.
