This museum of about 200m2 is located on the top floor of an outbuilding on the grounds of Chateau de Taillis. This estate is located on the main road, just west of the town of Duclair. From Rouen it is about 25 minutes away by car. There is sufficient free parking space. As you enter the grounds and look straight at the large main building, the museum is on your right in a detached L-shaped outbuilding. If no one is temporarily present, please report to the main building.
Here you will find a very colorful collection of mainly German, American and French clothing, weapons and utensils from the period 1939-1945. On display are various weapons and ammunition, but also personal utensils of soldiers. There are also archaeological finds of an old engine and parts of vehicles and aircraft on display. There are also some exhibits with dolls with German and American uniforms and weapons. From the roof hang the remains of an American parachute that was used on D-day (6 June 1944) and was recovered after the war in Saint-Lô. Various photos and texts (note: only in French) tell about the war in Rouen and in the vicinity of this estate, around the period of August 1944.
